Recently as part of my course at uni I took part in a 6 week work placement. I was lucky to spend my 6 weeks in Glasgow as PR intern for Fashioned in Glasgow. Fashioned in Glasgow is a fairly new social enterprise that aims to support emerging fashion designers in and around Glasgow. Located in the heart of Glasgow the studio has pretty great facilities. Designers can rent private studio space within the studio whilst also having access to a communal industrial sewing machine room, pattern cutting room and board room. They also have support around the clock from company directors Alison and Aimee - who both have years of industry experience under their belt. Fashioned in Glasgow also offers small production runs for designers and brands who wish to further their ideas for a product. With onsite facilities they have the knowledge and staff to bring a brands desired garment to life. Whilst at Fashioned in Glasgow I got to undertake lots of different tasks even some which were outwith the PR intern job role. The company directors wished to give me a real insight into their new venture and that is what they did. My main duties included taking control of all the social media accounts and assisting with the organisation of the fashion show. Along with office admin duties I also got the chance to take part in a press call and a photoshoot with one of the designers which featured two outfits from her collection. Another exciting part of the experience was getting to work closely with a few designers who are members at Fashioned in Glasgow. I got a real insight into their brand and assisted with things such as creating social media strategies, researching possible photoshoot locations, researching possible fabrics for their collections and some pattern cutting. Fashioned in Glasgow held their first fashion show on the 2nd of March at the Lighthouse. This was a chance for new designers to launch their brand and for existing designers to launch their latest collection. The Lighthouse is an amazing cultural venue which hosts many creative events throughout the year and with the best view of the city it really is an exciting space. Check out the gallery below for some of my fave looks from the fashion show. I had the best 6 weeks and you can check out Fashioned in Glasgow here.
