The Ultimate Guide to Grad Ball Glam

Like so many others I graduated from uni this week. My graduation ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon. Our ceremony was held at His Majesty’s Theatre here in Aberdeen and it was a proud day for my friends and myself. Afterwards the celebrations continued with my family and my boyfriend. The traditional thing to do seems to be to go for a meal after the ceremony so we headed to All Bar One - which I highly recommend.

So after the graduation ceremony’s are out of the way it’s time for the grad ball! My ball was on Friday. As we were one of the last schools to graduate from my uni we didn’t have to wait very long for it. So today I’m gonna give you my ultimate guide to grad ball glam.

Firstly, for me, the dress was the most important part. I was stuck between a black dress and silver dress both of which I had ordered online. After asking my friends (and my mum) which option they thought I should go for silver won the vote. I was trying to go for a 90’s vibe with a sort of cami style floor length dress with a sultry side split.

Next, you need to decide on shoes and a bag that compliment your dress. For me I already had a pair of black strappy shoes (so that saved me some money). I decided to match my bag to my shoes and found a black chain mail style bag which had a silver detachable chain. I prefer a bag with a strap because it means your hands are free (to hold more drinks).

Finally, hair and makeup. I’m not the best at makeup so I called upon one of my talented friends to do my makeup on the day. You can check out some of her work on her instagram profile @stephharwoodx. I opted for a smokey pink eye and a nude lip to add a pop of colour to my look. For my hair I just tied it back in a low bun - a classy look which focussed the attention to my dress.
